Igor Szpotakowski is a PhD Candidate at Newcastle University. In November 2022, he became a Deputy Convenor of the Law and Futures Research Group within the Newcastle Law School. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law and BA in Asian Studies from Jagiellonian University. He has been a Yenching Scholar (Law & Society) at Peking University. He has also studied at University of Bristol and Nottingham Trent University. Fellow of the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund – SYLFF (2021).
Igor’s research interests are in the areas of digitalisation of courts, IT law, data protection, AI regulation and comparative law. His PhD thesis concentrates on digitalisation of civil justice in China, Poland and England and Wales, especially focusing on limits of legal transplants.
