Iain G. Mitchell QC

Member

Iain G. Mitchell QC is a member of both the Scottish and English Bars and is ranked in Chambers Directory and the Legal 500 for Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property and Information Technology law. He is Chair of the Scottish Society for Computers and Law, a member of the IT Panel of the Bar Council of England and Wales and serves on the Remote Civil Hearings Working Party of the Bar Council. He is a member of the IT Committee of the CCBE and past Chair of the CCBE Surveillance Working Party. He is on the legal panels of Open UK and of the Positive Transformation Initiative as well as being a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. He holds an appointment as an Honorary Lecturer in IT Law at the Institut für Informations- Telekommunikations- und Medienrecht at the Wilhelms-Universität, Münster, Westphalia. He is a joint editor of the Journal of Open Law, Technology and Society and his publications include contributions to Electronic Evidence (Butterworths); The Open Source Law Book (Open Source Press); Innovation and Future of the Legal Profession in Europe (Bruylant, Brussels) and Free and Open Source Software: Policy, Law and Practice (Oxford University Press). He is a Reader in the Church of Scotland, having contributed to the Church's Reports, The Internet - In whose image? and Surveillance and Social Justice.
