Emanuela is currently a Lecturer in Law at the University of Dundee and joins the faculty after a year working as a Research Assistant at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She specialises in competition law and economic regulation of regulated industries, with particular focus on telecommunications. Prior to this recent change of career, Emanuela was Head of Public Policy for Asia-Pacific at the GSMA (the association of the mobile industry), based in Hong Kong, following her role as Head of Competition for the GSMA, based in London. This was itself a change because prior to joining the GSMA, Emanuela was a partner for 11 years at two law firms in the City of London, advising governments, regulator, competition authorities and corporate clients on matters of competition law and regulation. Throughout her career, Emanuela has always maintained links with academia, writing and researching (mostly) for an audience of practitioners, and teaching competition law as a visiting lecturer at City University in London, alongside designing and delivering 'capacity building' courses to policymakers, in competition and regulation. A lawyer by background, Emanuela also has an MSc in Economic Regulation and Competition from City University, London, and an LLM in Information Technology and Telecommunications Law from Strathclyde University.
