Dr. Irene Couzigou

Dr. Irene Couzigou is a senior lecturer at the University of Aberdeen School of Law (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/law/people/profiles/irene.couzigou). Her legal disciplines are Public International Law and French Law. Her research addresses the emerging International Law on Cyber Security. She is particularly interested in the role of private actors in monitoring and securing cyberspace. Irene was a member of the Cyberterrorism Project of the University of Swansea from 2011 to 2019. She advised the Scottish government on its cyber resilience strategy, as well as the United Arab Emirates and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime on the use of the Internet by terrorists. She responded, together with other members of BILETA (British and Irish Law Education and Technology), to the EU consultation on the Digital Services Act package. Irene is a member of SCOTLIN steering group.
