
Dr Lorna Gillies

Lorna is Senior Lecturer in Law at the Law School, University of Dundee. Lorna obtained her LLB(Hons), Dip LP and PhD all from the University of Strathclyde. Lorna's principal research interests are in private international law or 'conflict of laws'. Lorna is interested in the relationship between jurisdiction, choice of law and the protection of weaker parties. Lorna has researched and published widely on these aspects, including internet regulation, digital assets and AI. Lorna is Principal Investigator of an RSE Research Collaboration Grant (2024-2026) on AI and Scots Law: Transforming the Future, with Dr Michiel Poesen (University of Aberdeen) and a collaboration of legal academics and legal practitioners in Scotland. Lorna is a member of the European Association of Private International Law and an academic member of the Law Society of Scotland's Working Party on Private International Law.
