Daria Onitiu is currently a Research Associate at Edinburgh Law School and a PhD Candidate at Northumbria Law School. She has a background in International and European Law from her LLB at the University of Groningen and her LLM at Durham University. Her main research interests entail the intersection between artificial intelligence systems and human rights. For her doctoral thesis, she is investigating the meaning of the right to privacy, considering the impact of fashion recommender systems on an individual’s autonomy and identity. At Edinburgh Law School, she focuses on the gaps regarding the legal and ethical governance of autonomous systems within the Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (TAS) project.
