Andrew MacQueen

Member

Andrew MacQueen is a trainee solicitor at Thorntons Law LLP, he has held a range of senior posts prior to his traineeship most recently being global head of data protection at John Menzies plc. Andrew has an interest in regulation, particularly financial regulation and data protection, privacy, and cyber law. Since 2019, Andrew has been a part time lecturer at Robert Gordon University where he is module lead for cyber and information security law.

Andrew embarked on his doctoral research in 2020 starting a Doctor of Business Administration qualification at the University of Dundee. His research is concerned with the themes of professionalism and their applicability to the role of a Data Protection Officer, as defined under the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

Finally, Andrew is in the process of matriculating to the Scottish Bar to become an Advocate. He hopes to begin his training in 2023 after completing his traineeship. Andrew feels his experiences and exposure to practice enables him to think of the practical aspects of research as well as the theory.
